Sublimation and Vaporizing

Sublimation is a process that has been used by scientists from different fields of study. Scientists often study how different elements and compounds react to this process, and what the ultimate effects are after sublimation. Today, a common household gadget uses the same process: the herbal vaporizer. These vaporizing machines transform solid plant sources and herbs into a vapor or steam that contains most of the active ingredients from the said sources. These vaporizing machines achieve such an effect without actual combustion thus eliminating some awful by products brought about by burning.

The sublimation process involves heating. Convection heating is one of the most effective ways to achieve a really good vapor as it uses hot air to heat the herbs. The most effective herbal vaporizing machines use convection heating to start the sublimation process. In this heating process the plant source or herb is never directly in-contact with the vaporizer’s heating element. With convection heating, the element that gives off heat only heats the air which passes in between the plant sources and herbs, ultimately starting a change in the state of the material.

The plant source or herb inside the vaporizer begins to change its state when the temperature inside the machine increases. This heating makes the plant sources’ particles active, thus starting the change in state. The sublimation process involves the transformation of a solid substance into a gaseous one without turning into liquid in between.

Most vaporizing machines today use forced air to heat the plant sources and herbs to the proper temperature instead of relying on boiling and actual combustion. While the plant sources and herbs are heated through by means of the forced air, the active ingredients in the solid substances are transformed to join the hot air. Once the hot air or vapor is released by the vaporizing machine, it already contains these active ingredients; thus giving the user a potent vaporizing experience.

Sublimating plant sources is much better than combustion and burning because it eliminates the harmful by products that come with smoke like carcinogens and other harmful chemicals. This makes vaporizers quite popular in the worlds of aromatherapies and even smoking cessation. Aside from eliminating some harmful by products, vaporizing machines release a steam that is filled only with the active ingredients from your plant source or herb of choice.

The process of sublimation your machine goes through makes it possible to give off a vapor that is clean and full of useful components from your herbs and plants. So the next time you want get the full effect of your favorite herbs and plants for aromatherapy, relaxation, or to help you get a good night’s sleep, remember that your best bet is a little machine called the vaporizer.
